The world of Monoimanii

The artist

Amela
Aiiyah

Origins

Before MONOIMANII had a name, there were stories of Ur and Mesopotamia.

Amela Aiiyah grew up with her grandparents’ stories of ancient cities, mythology and kings said to have lived for hundreds of years. As a child, she sat drawing from her grandfather’s image of a king from Ur. Its detail opened a world that never closed.

Psychology, religion, spirituality, mythology, history, archaeology and nature became enduring sources of thought. Fashion, art and design became their visible form.

Statement

Monoimanii presents Amela Aiiyah Zetterberg, an artist and creative director whose practice moves between art, objects, memory and the intuitive. Through painting, sculpture, objects and spatial compositions, she explores the relationship between human experience, materiality and the traces that remain.

Amela Aiiyah Zetterberg’s practice is rooted in a continuous dialogue between the intuitive and the material. Her work emerges through observation, stillness, memory and sensory experience, often beginning with an impression, a symbol, an object or a feeling rather than a fixed image. She moves between the ephemeral and the physical, allowing ideas to develop before translating them through colour, texture, form and space.

Meditation, sound and ritual are integral to Zetterberg’s creative process. They create a space of attention in which inspiration, memory, symbols and impressions can surface. This process is less about control than about listening, to what is present, what is remembered and what is yet to take form.

Her work often begins with ordinary or familiar elements: objects, materials, fragments of memory and references to earlier civilisations. Through transformation and recontextualisation, these elements become new forms, connecting past, present and future. The object is not simply preserved, but given another life, as a trace, a symbol and a carrier of memory.

Zetterberg’s practice extends beyond the individual artwork into the space around it. Art, objects, materials, light, sound and architecture are considered as parts of a larger sensory language. Her work explores how an environment can hold emotion, evoke memory and create a moment of presence.

Monoimanii is the creative house through which Zetterberg’s art, design and spatial practice come together. Founded by Zetterberg, Monoimanii operates at the intersection of contemporary art, interior, objects, fashion and sensory experience, with art at the centre of its creative language.

Through her practice, Amela Aiiyah Zetterberg approaches art as both object and experience, something that can be observed, felt and encountered, leaving behind a trace long after the moment has passed.

The practice

The unseen leaves a form behind.

MONOIMANII moves between painting, sculpture, photography, fashion and space. Each discipline belongs to the same inner world.

Across time, people have left traces of who they were and what they knew. MONOIMANII is Amela’s trace: signs of presence, value, knowledge and inspiration made to endure.
